Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekend for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. The program began in ASD during January of 2016. There are currently over 200 students in all the ASD elementary schools who are going to benefit from the program this year.
Students receive 8 items to eat over the weekend. They may include breakfast items, a fruit item, a salty snack, a sweet snack, and 2 entrees. Alpha Theta members are providing financial support as well as volunteer time to assist the project in various ASD buildings. |
